Since The Merge, running an Ethereum full node requires two separate clients: an execution client (Geth, Nethermind, Besu, or Erigon) and a consensus client (Prysm, Lighthouse, Teku, or Lodestar). Both must run simultaneously and communicate via the Engine API.
This dual-client architecture demands more resources than pre-merge Ethereum. Storage requirements exceed 1TB for a full node (2TB+ recommended), with fast SSD essential for state database operations.
