FluxCD Setup & Configuration
FluxCD is a CNCF graduated GitOps toolkit that's lightweight, composable, and deeply integrated with Kubernetes. Unlike ArgoCD's monolithic approach, Flux uses specialized controllers — Source, Kustomize, Helm, Notification, and Image Automation — that you compose based on your needs. We deploy and configure FluxCD for production-grade GitOps workflows.

What We Deliver
FluxCD bootstrapped in your Kubernetes cluster with source controllers for Git and Helm repositories, Kustomize and Helm controllers for reconciliation, notification controller for Slack/Teams/webhook alerts, image automation for automatic version updates, multi-tenancy configuration, and operational documentation.
Why FluxCD
Flux is a CNCF graduated project, meaning it's vendor-neutral and community-driven. It's lighter than ArgoCD (no UI server to run), natively supports both Kustomize and Helm, and its image automation controller can automatically update manifests when new container images are pushed. For teams that prefer CLI-first workflows over web UIs, Flux is the better choice.
Repository Structure
Flux bootstraps itself from Git — the Flux controllers are defined as manifests in your repository. We structure repositories with clusters/ for cluster-specific resources, infrastructure/ for shared components (cert-manager, ingress, monitoring), and apps/ for application deployments. Each directory has its own Kustomization with dependencies defining the reconciliation order.
Image Automation
Flux's image automation controller scans container registries, detects new image tags matching your policy (semver, regex, or alphabetical), and automatically commits updated image references to your Git repository. The Kustomize controller then reconciles the change. This creates a fully automated pipeline: push code, CI builds image, Flux deploys it.
Multi-Tenancy
Flux supports multi-tenancy through namespace-scoped Kustomizations with service account impersonation. Each team gets their own namespace, Git repository, and reconciliation scope. Cross-namespace references are controlled via policies. This prevents teams from accidentally or intentionally modifying resources outside their scope.
