Task Definition Conversion
ECS task definitions become Kubernetes Deployments with matching resource limits, health checks, and environment variables. Service discovery moves from Cloud Map to Kubernetes Services. ALB target groups become Ingress resources.
EKS Cluster Setup
We provision EKS with managed node groups, cluster autoscaler, and proper VPC integration. Add-ons include AWS Load Balancer Controller, EBS CSI driver, and external-dns. IAM Roles for Service Accounts (IRSA) replace task role assumptions.
Traffic Migration
Using weighted target groups or DNS-based routing, we gradually shift traffic from ECS to EKS. Each service is validated independently before full cutover. ECS services are decommissioned only after the EKS equivalents prove stable.
