Each environment gets its own VPC, Kubernetes namespace or cluster, database instance, and DNS zone. Shared Terraform modules ensure consistency: the same network topology, security groups, and monitoring stack across all environments.
Promotion Pipeline
Code and infrastructure changes promote through environments: dev for development, staging for QA and integration testing, production for users. Each promotion is automated via CI/CD with approval gates for production.
Cost Management
Dev and staging environments use smaller instances and can be scheduled to shut down outside business hours. Production runs full-scale with auto-scaling. You get realistic testing without 3x the cloud bill.
