APM Instrumentation
New Relic APM agents provide automatic instrumentation for Node.js, Python, Go, Java, .NET, Ruby, and PHP. We deploy agents, configure transaction naming, set up distributed tracing, and define key transactions for SLA monitoring. Custom instrumentation covers business-critical code paths that automatic instrumentation misses.
Infrastructure Monitoring
Infrastructure agents report system metrics (CPU, memory, disk, network) from every host. Cloud integrations pull metrics from AWS, GCP, and Azure managed services. Kubernetes integration provides cluster, node, pod, and container metrics with entity relationships. On-host integrations monitor databases, caches, and message brokers.
NRQL & Custom Dashboards
New Relic's query language (NRQL) enables powerful custom queries across all telemetry data. We build dashboards showing: application error rates by endpoint, infrastructure resource utilization by service, deployment impact (before/after comparisons), and business KPIs derived from custom events. Dashboards are version-controlled as Terraform resources.
Alerting & SLOs
Alert conditions use NRQL queries for maximum flexibility. We configure SLIs and SLOs with error budget tracking. Alert policies group related conditions. Notification channels route to Slack, PagerDuty, email, or webhooks. Runbook links attach troubleshooting guides to every alert. Alert fatigue is prevented through proper threshold tuning and aggregation.
