Reliability Scorecard
A reliability scorecard gives every service a measurable grade across key reliability dimensions. Anubiz Engineering builds scorecards that combine SLO data, observability coverage, incident history, and operational readiness into a single view — making it clear which services need investment and which are production-grade.

Scoring Dimensions
Each service is scored across five dimensions: SLO compliance (are objectives met?), observability (are metrics, logs, and traces instrumented?), incident history (frequency and severity of recent incidents), deployment safety (rollback capability, canary analysis, feature flags), and operational readiness (runbooks, on-call documentation, disaster recovery plan). Each dimension gets a 1-5 score with clear criteria for each level.
Automated Data Collection
Scorecard data is collected automatically where possible. SLO compliance pulls from your SLO tracking platform. Incident history pulls from your incident management tool. Observability coverage is checked by querying Prometheus for expected metric names and verifying trace instrumentation. Only operational readiness requires manual assessment, typically a quarterly checklist completed by the service owner.
Service Catalog Integration
Scorecards integrate with your service catalog (Backstage, OpsLevel, or a custom catalog). Each service's catalog entry displays its current reliability score, trend over time, and specific areas needing improvement. New services start with a baseline assessment and a target score to achieve within 90 days. This creates accountability without being punitive.
Improvement Roadmap
Low scores generate actionable recommendations: "Add structured logging to the payment service" scores a 2 in observability. "Configure canary deployments for the API gateway" scores a 3 in deployment safety. Recommendations are specific, actionable, and linked to the scoring criteria. Quarterly reviews track score improvements across the service portfolio and celebrate teams that improve the most.
