Self-Hosted Email Server Setup

Own your email infrastructure. We set up a production-grade email server with Postfix, Dovecot, anti-spam, and proper DNS authentication — so your emails actually reach inboxes.

Need this done for your project?

We implement, you ship. Async, documented, done in days.

Start a Brief

What's Included

  • Mail server — Postfix (SMTP) + Dovecot (IMAP) or Mail-in-a-Box for an all-in-one solution
  • Webmail — Roundcube or SOGo for browser-based email access
  • Anti-spam — SpamAssassin + ClamAV for virus scanning
  • DNS authentication — SPF, DKIM, DMARC properly configured for maximum deliverability
  • TLS encryption — Let's Encrypt certificate for encrypted connections
  • Backup — Automated email backup to remote storage

Important Considerations

Self-hosted email requires careful setup to avoid deliverability issues:

  • Your server IP must not be on any blacklists (we verify this before setup)
  • Proper reverse DNS (PTR record) is essential
  • IP reputation takes time to build — we guide you through warmup
  • Consider using a relay (Amazon SES, Mailgun) for outbound if your IP is new

We'll be honest: if you send fewer than 100 emails/day, a hosted service like Fastmail or ProtonMail might be simpler. We'll advise based on your needs.

Pricing

  • Mail Server Setup — $399: Postfix + Dovecot + webmail + DNS authentication
  • Mail-in-a-Box — $299: All-in-one solution, easier maintenance
  • Enterprise Email — $699: Multiple domains, LDAP integration, archiving, compliance
