How P2Pool Works
P2Pool runs a sidechain alongside Monero mainnet. Miners submit shares to the sidechain, which is mined at higher difficulty than the pool target. When a P2Pool block is found, rewards are distributed to recent share contributors based on PPLNS accounting. There is no central operator collecting fees.

Mini Sidechain vs Main
P2Pool offers two sidechains: main (higher difficulty, larger payouts, fewer rewards per share) and mini (lower difficulty, more frequent smaller payouts). Small miners use mini; large operations use main.
