The BÜPF (Federal Act on the Surveillance of Postal and Telecommunications Traffic) requires explicit judicial process for any traffic data disclosure, and Swiss courts have repeatedly rejected mass surveillance schemes. For an IPFS pinning operator hosting research material, whistleblower archives, or content that attracts speculative legal pressure, Switzerland is the highest-cost but also highest-protection jurisdiction in our lineup. Why Switzerland
Switzerland is not in the EU and not bound by the DSA, but it has its own intermediary liability framework that is generally more provider-friendly. Hosting providers are not subject to general monitoring obligations; takedown requires a substantiated complaint and, for non-obvious cases, judicial process. Banking secrecy traditions extend into telecoms secrecy via BÜPF.
The downside is cost. Swiss datacenter operations cost meaningfully more than Romania or Netherlands. We pass this through honestly on the Switzerland VPS line.

Zurich pop. 12 ms to Frankfurt, 15 ms to Milan, 18 ms to Paris, 28 ms to London. 1 Gbit symmetric with 15 TB included egress on V tier.
Same Kubo + badger v4 stack as the other jurisdictions. The storage cost per TB is the highest in our lineup; if pure storage is the bottleneck, mix Switzerland for sensitive content and a cheaper jurisdiction for bulk via IPFS Cluster.
Federation and Legal Note
You moderate. We do not see your pins. CSAM is removed on credible notice. Swiss court orders are honored within their proper scope; foreign court orders flow through Swiss judicial review.
Operational Recommendations
For Swiss-hosted pin nodes we recommend full disk encryption at the LUKS layer (panel option) so a physical seizure does not yield plaintext blocks. The trade-off is that crash recovery requires you to supply the passphrase via console or remote-attestation flow; budget for this in your runbook.
