Self-Hosted Machine Translation on VPS
LibreTranslate is an open-source machine translation API that runs locally:

LibreTranslate API is compatible with many translation tools. Your translations are processed entirely on your Iceland VPS - no data sent to Google, Microsoft, or DeepL.
Language pair quality depends on the underlying model. LibreTranslate uses Argos Translate models. Quality is below commercial providers for most language pairs, but sufficient for a first draft that human translators then refine.
For legal, medical, or government translation: use LibreTranslate for initial draft + human review. The human review process ensures accuracy while the offline processing ensures confidentiality.
