ComfyUI in Iceland via Hybrid Architecture
Iceland's mix of geothermal energy, no data retention law, and historical resistance to extraterritorial legal pressure makes Reykjavik a strong front-end location for artists whose work touches political or sensitive themes. Our Iceland ComfyUI plan runs the workflow editor, model library, and gallery storage in Reykjavik, with GPU compute routed via private link to our Netherlands 4090 pool.

GPU Reality in Iceland
We do not stock RTX 4090 in Reykjavik. Power and cooling for 450W consumer cards inside our IS facility is currently limited. Rather than oversell, we route Iceland-origin GPU workloads to dedicated 4090s in Amsterdam over private network. The card is fully yours - it just lives in NL.
The Iceland side is a 4 vCPU EPYC VPS with 8GB RAM, 100GB NVMe, 1Gbps. ComfyUI web UI lives here. Compute backend talks to the NL worker over a customer-specific WireGuard tunnel.
Why Iceland Front-End
Iceland has no data retention law for ISPs, no compelled-decryption regime, and a Supreme Court history of treating publisher freedom as a constitutional concern. The Modern Media Initiative is a longstanding domestic project pushing Iceland as a safe haven for journalism and political publishing.
For artists whose ComfyUI workflows produce satire, political illustration, NSFW, or anything else that might attract pressure in larger jurisdictions, an Icelandic publicly-visible endpoint (WHOIS, abuse contact, TLS certificate origin) carries meaningful weight. A request against the IS side is processed under Icelandic law.
Architecture and Privacy Posture
Helsinki-to-Amsterdam style architecture: Reykjavik VPS holds prompts, workflows, model library, and gallery output. NL worker is stateless - executes inference, returns image bytes, stores nothing. Network link is WireGuard over our private backbone, never traversing public internet between POPs.
This split means a court action against the NL host produces no useful artifacts. Prompts, history, and outputs all live in Iceland. The 4090 is just compute.
Energy and Sustainability
The Reykjavik front-end runs on 100% geothermal and hydroelectric power. Carbon intensity per kWh is approximately 5-10% of Frankfurt grid mix. For artists who need a defensible sustainability story for the public-facing infrastructure, this matters.
The NL GPU runs on Dutch grid mix which is largely fossil. We are honest about the end-to-end picture: the front-end is green, the GPU is grid-mix. For full green compute the only honest path today is Hetzner GPU in Finland on Finnish renewable mix, which is competitive but does not have our no-KYC posture.
