Official Bitwarden Self-Hosted in Switzerland
Switzerland is the European jurisdiction that international clients name first when they think privacy hosting, and for an enterprise password vault the intuition holds. nFADP took effect 1 September 2023, the country is not in the EU, not in the Fourteen Eyes, and there is no key escrow. The official Bitwarden self-hosted server with MS SQL Server underneath needs 6 GB RAM floor and benefits from low-latency NVMe IOPS for MS SQL transaction logs. This page covers plan choice on the Anubiz Host Switzerland line, installer walk, SSO via OIDC, and backup to a second offshore region.

We implement, you ship. Async, documented, done in days.
Why Switzerland
nFADP modernised data protection. The FDPIC enforces. Not in the EU, not in the Fourteen Eyes. No key escrow. Federal neutrality complicates extraterritorial pressure. Latency to Frankfurt 15 ms, Milan under 10 ms.
Plan Sizing
Anubiz Switzerland Dedicated server. 32 GB RAM tier for under 500 users; 64 GB tier if you want headroom plus the Events service plus monitoring. NVMe SSD; /29 IPv4; /64 IPv6.
Installer
Standard Bitwarden install. Install id and key from bitwarden.com/host. SMTP configured first. Hostname pinned to your domain. Let's Encrypt cert via installer or replace with Caddy if you want HTTP/3.
SSO Setup
OIDC or SAML 2.0. Keycloak or Authentik for self-hosted IdP. Azure AD or Okta if you already pay for one. SSO requires Enterprise licence.
Encryption Truth
Vault items end to end encrypted. MS SQL stores ciphered blobs. Server admins cannot decrypt. Metadata is visible to disk attackers. Swiss jurisdiction does not decrypt your data; master password does.
Backups
./bitwarden.sh backup nightly, encrypt with age, restic to Anubiz Host Iceland. Retention 14/8/12.
