GNUnet Server VPS for Anonymous P2P Workloads
GNUnet is a framework for secure peer to peer applications, including anonymous file sharing, a name system that resists censorship, and various overlay services. Running a GNUnet peer on a VPS contributes to the network and gives operators a stable presence. AnubizHost offers offshore VPS for GNUnet workloads with anonymous billing.

GNUnet Components on a VPS
GNUnet ships as a suite of services: CADET for end to end encrypted channels, GNS for a censorship resistant naming system, FS for anonymous file sharing, and others. On a VPS we deploy the full suite under a dedicated unprivileged user with the data directory on encrypted storage. The peer announces itself to the network through the operator's choice of transport, including TCP, HTTPS, and emerging QUIC support.
Operators commonly run GNS authorities for their own zone, allowing them to publish names resolvable across the GNUnet namespace without depending on the traditional DNS hierarchy. We provide GNS templates and zone management utilities for new operators.
Anonymous File Sharing on FS
FS is the anonymous file sharing service of GNUnet, conceptually similar to Freenet but with a different protocol design. Publishers insert content with cryptographic keywords, and consumers retrieve content through the same keywords without learning the publisher's identity. Running an FS peer on a long lived VPS contributes routing capacity and reduces overall request latency for users worldwide.
Operators of FS peers do not face the same abuse mediation burden as Tor exit operators because FS does not terminate clearnet traffic. Complaint mail is rare in practice and our offshore mediation workflow handles outliers without exposing operator identity.
Anonymity Pipeline End to End
GNUnet provides anonymity at the protocol layer. The hosting layer is the missing piece for most operators. AnubizHost completes the pipeline with anonymous signup, crypto only billing, and no KYC. The operator's real identity never enters our records. The peer identifier is independent of the AnubizHost account and can rotate without affecting billing or service continuity.
For research groups and privacy collectives that operate fleets of GNUnet peers, we support bulk anonymous accounts under separate pseudonyms with no cross-linking on our side. Each peer remains its own entity.
