What an OTC stack actually runs
Typical OTC desk infrastructure: a custom matching engine or order-book aggregator, exchange API connectors (Binance, Kraken, Bitstamp, OKX), a Postgres instance for trade history, a Redis layer for live state, a web dashboard for desk staff, and a secure signing service or HSM for wallet operations. The matching engine and connectors are CPU-sensitive. Database and signing are isolation-sensitive. A common pattern is two VPS: one for the public-facing dashboard and connectors, one isolated for the signer and the database.
Sizing and latency
For a desk doing tens of trades per day in major markets, 4 vCPU 16 GB RAM is sufficient on the application VPS, with 4 vCPU 8 GB RAM for the database VPS. Latency from Romania or Netherlands to major European exchange APIs is under 30ms; from Iceland it is under 50ms. Both are acceptable for OTC (which is not HFT). For desks running tighter latency requirements, dedicated server plans with bare-metal CPUs are available.
