The bottleneck is rarely CPU and almost always memory because Rspamd, ClamAV, and SOGo all keep significant working sets in RAM. For backend storage, choose PostgreSQL over MariaDB or OpenLDAP unless you have a specific reason. PostgreSQL has stronger isolation guarantees, better performance under concurrent IMAP and admin panel operations, and simpler online backups. OpenLDAP is appropriate only if you already operate a corporate LDAP directory and want to integrate user provisioning with it. NVMe storage matters most for Dovecot index files. A few thousand active mailboxes will hammer the index directory with random IOPS. Anubiz Host provisions NVMe by default on all VPS plans, so this is solved out of the box.

iRedMail by itself is a software stack. The privacy properties of your deployment come from the underlying VPS provider and jurisdiction.
