Telegram Bot Architecture and Hosting
Telegram bots use either long polling against the Bot API or webhook delivery from Telegram to your endpoint. Webhook mode requires a publicly reachable HTTPS endpoint with valid TLS certificate, which the VPS provides. Bot API endpoints in Europe respond in under 50 ms from Romania. For high throughput bots (channel admins, news aggregators), webhook mode is more efficient than long polling. For privacy oriented bots, long polling avoids exposing a public webhook URL.

TLS and Webhook Configuration
Webhook bots need valid TLS certificate. Let's Encrypt is the default for free TLS, configured automatically with most reverse proxy setups (Caddy, Traefik, nginx with Certbot). Telegram supports custom port for webhook endpoints, useful when sharing the VPS with other services on standard ports. Configure webhook URL with bot token suffix as path for basic shared secret protection. Monitor webhook delivery success rate via the Bot API.
