What Loop Does
Loop In: deposit on-chain Bitcoin to a swap server, receive Lightning credit (gain inbound capacity). Loop Out: send Lightning sats, receive on-chain Bitcoin (drain outbound to refresh capacity). Useful for routing nodes and active LN users.
Why Self-Host loopd
loopd itself is a client that talks to Lightning Labs' Loop server. Hosting your own loopd gives you scheduled automated swaps without exposing API keys to third-party tooling. Combined with rebalancing scripts (Lndg, Charge-lnd), you can run hands-off liquidity management.
