PrivateBin Architecture
PrivateBin encrypts paste content client-side in the browser before submission. The server stores ciphertext plus the URL fragment that holds the decryption key (the fragment never leaves the browser, so the server cannot decrypt). This is structurally seizure-resistant: a seized server yields only ciphertext.
Operational Configuration
PHP-FPM on unix socket behind nginx behind Tor v3 onion. Storage backend: SQLite or filesystem. Burn-after-reading and expiration policies configurable. No user accounts, no submission logs.
Abuse Handling
Hidden-service pastebins attract abuse (CSAM-hash-list scans, scraper-bot uploads). PrivateBin's client-side-encrypted model means we cannot proactively scan content; we rely on reports from users and remove on operator decision. Operators set their own removal policies.
