OnionMail Network
OnionMail is a community-maintained federated mail network using onion-only routing. Nodes peer with each other via onion addresses; mail moves between nodes over Tor circuits. The network is small (dozens of active nodes) but stable.
Setup
Install the OnionMail node software, generate the v3 onion key, register with the OnionMail directory (publishing your node's onion address to the network), and configure user accounts. We ship the install steps in our welcome guide.
User Experience
Users get an address like alice@xyz.onion. They connect via SMTP/IMAP over Tor with Thunderbird or similar. Mail to other OnionMail users routes through the network; mail to clearnet addresses requires a relay node (operator's choice).
