Whonix Gateway VPS
Whonix's two-VM architecture (Gateway + Workstation) provides strong network isolation for users whose threat model includes workstation compromise. Running the Gateway on a remote VPS instead of the same physical machine as the Workstation adds an additional separation layer. AnubizHost provides VPS preconfigured for Whonix Gateway deployment.

Whonix Two-VM Model
The Whonix Gateway runs Tor; the Workstation routes all traffic through the Gateway via an internal-only network. The Workstation cannot make non-Tor connections because it has no direct network access. Splitting the Gateway onto a remote VPS extends this isolation: the Workstation now also cannot directly reach the Gateway machine's hardware.
Configuration
The Gateway VPS runs the standard Whonix Gateway image. The Workstation (on local hardware) connects to the Gateway via WireGuard tunnel that the Gateway publishes only on its private network. All Workstation outbound traffic enters the WireGuard tunnel, exits the Gateway through Tor.
Use Cases
Operators with elevated workstation-compromise threat models. Researchers studying malware that might attempt to exfiltrate data via clearnet if it had any path to it. Journalists in environments where local network monitoring is a concern.
