Glitch-Soc Mastodon Fork on an Anubiz Romania VPS
Glitch-Soc is the most active Mastodon fork. It adds features upstream Mastodon does not: local-only posts (toots that do not federate, useful for instance-internal discussion), markdown content type, longer character limits, granular per-toot federation control, and richer admin tooling. For communities that want Mastodon UX with deeper customization, Glitch-Soc is the operationally pragmatic choice. Same resource envelope as upstream Mastodon, same legal framework, same internal-link targets.

Why Glitch-Soc
Local-only posts are the headline feature. They allow community-only discussion that does not propagate to other instances, useful for moderation discussions, instance-specific announcements, or low-key chatter. Markdown content type gives richer formatting. Longer character limits (configurable) accommodate longer writing.
Glitch-Soc tracks upstream Mastodon closely; merges happen regularly. It is not a hard fork, it is an extended-features fork.
Resource Profile
Identical to upstream Mastodon. Same Sidekiq, Postgres, Redis sizing. Romania VPS V handles 1000-2500 active users.
Federation and Local-Only Semantics
Local-only posts truly stay local. Implementation marks the activity for non-federation. Other instances do not receive these posts. Useful but creates social asymmetry - members on other instances cannot read local-only posts from your community.
Moderation Note
Same as Mastodon: you moderate. DSA NTD. CSAM at infrastructure layer on credible notice.
