Private .ru Domain Registration Through a Legal Entity
The .ru registry, run by the Coordination Center for TLD RU, requires registrant identification. For individuals, this means a passport. For legal entities, it means corporate documents only - no personal passport. The practical privacy path for .ru is to register through a legal entity (Russian LLC, foreign company with Russian rep, or proxy company). We do not register .ru on personal passports for non-residents and we explain why honestly.

Coordination Center's Identification Requirement
The .ru registry requires identification of the registrant. For legal entities, OGRN and INN documents are accepted - no personal passport involved. For individuals, a Russian passport or equivalent is required by registry rules. There is no legitimate way to register a .ru on a fully anonymous personal basis.
Legal-Entity Path
If you operate a Russian LLC, the registration uses the LLC's OGRN. If you operate a foreign legal entity with operations in Russia, that entity's documents work. WHOIS privacy is supported at the registry level for legal entities, which keeps the company data off the public WHOIS while remaining accurate at the registry record.
What We Will Not Do
We will not register .ru using fake personal data or invented passport numbers. That gets the domain suspended and we will not lie to operators about what is and is not safe.
Hosting in Russia
If you are running a .ru domain, you likely want a Russia-located server to match. See our planned Russia hosting on the anonymous hosting page.
Pricing
.ru is inexpensive at the registry: roughly $5-8/yr. Our markup covers registrar-shield handling and crypto payment processing.
